In Dubai, the Opus complex is preparing to open – a multifunctional building consisting of two towers interconnected in such a way that there is a through hole in the center of the composition. In addition to hotel rooms, the towers will also house 12 restaurants, a rooftop bar and office space.
Opus will be the only building in Dubai designed by the famed Zaha Hadid, the first ever Pritzker Prize-winning woman and founder of Zaha Hadid Architects. The height of its towers is 100 meters, and the height of the “hole” between them is about eight floors. The towers are connected by an atrium and an asymmetric three-story bridge. Another feature of the building is that it soars in the air because of the narrow basement floor.
The project of the building Zaha Hadid presented back in 2007, and the construction was planned to be completed in 2018, but it was delayed for another year. At the time of publication, it is known that the opening of the hotel is scheduled for 2020.
Even before its opening, the project was shortlisted for the prestigious World Architecture Festival 2019.
